1939, the great powers of Europe sit on the precipice of a new World War, Britain’s stranglehold on the sub-continent is beginning to loosen and the Indian freedom movement is just about to arrive. Calcutta, the former British Indian capital is a hotbed of political activity of every kind and right in the midst of it Communist Party leader Joy Banerjee’s hard at work trying to unshackle his country from the fetters of history. A revolutionary through and through a matter much closer to home and his heart suddenly demands all of his attention when a young handsome poet, the son of a Nawab, decides to set his sights on Candida, Joy’s beautiful wife. A worldly artist herself Candida must chose between the tender love of her husband and the passionate advances of her attractive suitor.
